And it's so good to see you, man.
Thanks for having me.
I appreciate your friendship.
I appreciate all you do to help people.
And I've learned so much from you
as a mentor about how to do business, how
to negotiate and all that.
And I just want to enjoy it.
I want to hear your story
a little bit about how you came from,
from humble beginnings in a lot of way,
which we're not really necessarily humble.
But your dad kidded you into thinking that
to raise you the right way.
Fascinating. Yeah.
Complete self service. And
paid the work.
It was you know if you know too.
So your dad always provided and got older
49 years. Wow.
But a pet shop too.
In addition to everything else.
What pets.
Wow okay.
Teaching all about the entrepreneur thing.
Whatever services I said.
But, Joyce, I love the fact that Bill.
No grass grew under your feet.
I mean, your dad taught you
about how to hustle.
Exactly. That's right. That's good.
But he taught you how to hustle.
If you want something, you go get it.
It's not going to come to you.
You have to go out there
and make it happen and and and turned you
into into the very successful man
you are now.
I was young.
And it was,
Can you imagine if you were alone.
Yeah.
Oh if it was, if I was alone
I would have been dead. Yeah.
I was down. Wow.
You wouldn't have made it.
So how did that change you from
that point on when that happened?
Well, what it.
Did it change my.
Sounds like Bobby Darin, the great Bobby
Darin singer.
He was the same thing.
That was my primary. Yeah.
Everything else. So.
But I think that's great. Joyce.
We talk about that.
When you have more money coming
in, you can bless more and more people.
We talk about the same thing.
And if if we make more money,
it's like I always pray, you know, father,
you know,
take me from barely enough
to more than enough
so I could be a blessing to other people.
Take care of your family, but have plenty
left over to help somebody else.
I mean, that drives me. That's right.
That's it?
Yeah, yeah, that's my family
to support.
Yes. Charities and things.
Because to me, I remember
you telling me that a coffee one time.
Yeah.
I'm not paying.
I'm not really doing it all on my own.
You know, everybody is
my donation, right?
You know, I can fill
in, you call it the get back to her.
I like that to get back to her.
Wouldn't that be nice Joyce.
To get back to her.
Getting water
no matter how we redirected it
and spent a lot of time doing that.
So that would help,
you know, what we do is we stop the water.
We truly stop the water from coming
in. Okay.
A lot of systems out there today.
They put these trend systems and.
Yeah. Yeah.
So that's really still allowing it to
you got to get to the root cause.
Right. So
tell me.
Tell us about some of the high level
projects you've worked on.
You mentioned some in New York and Chicago
and Washington DC.
You know
my projects.
Was involved with that
and that must hit home a little bit
now with the 25th anniversary.
What happened at 911,
knowing that you worked in the Twin Towers
and and twin Towers?
Yeah. Wow.
Okay.
Yes. Yes.
To do their job
and tell them straight up.
Okay.
And that's counterintuitive
to what most people think.
A lot of salespeople
are trying to undercut that.
You you're showing real posture.
Well, the difference
there's a premium price to it.
Willing to pay for it.
Right.
So but
some American made.
Yeah.
Getting back to your accent.
Last. Right. It was.
And when you got the wrong guy. Yes.
Yeah.
That's right. That's right.
I said I'll be running around the roofs
in six months.
Yeah.
She said no you won't.
But they don't allow for faith in that.
They're just going by what they know.
And I and I understand that,
I understand that.
Yeah, that I mean, that's
when it really changed this ability.
You know, the title
I wanted to provide for them from there.
And I bet you haven't forgotten
that woman.
No I haven't.
You haven't seen her in many years.
Oh she's still with us.
I, you know, I don't know. Right.
She was much older,
so I don't know. Yeah, yeah.
You know, she'd probably be.
But we all remember that first one
who gave us a shot, who believed in us. So
just say.
Right. Right.
I'm going on all on my own.
Right.
And the easiest way to.
In the end, it was.
I don't regret it. Yeah. You still learn.
You still learn what to do
and what not to do.
Yeah.
So yeah it was good.
But you have,
you have an amazing fortitude I like that.
Did that come from your dad too.
I think so.
Yeah I think
well I think it's a finished high school.
You know back then. Yeah.
You know and no unfortunately
I think one of their younger
but you know all the old timers, it's
like you lose it, you don't use it right.
You lose it type thing.
Yeah.
Here.
Right.
By law.
Oh right.
Right. Yeah. Yeah.
But I just
love the fact that you've overcome
so many obstacles because that's kind of
the premise of the show.
What's good with John and Joyce.
Because we so many people see successful
people like you,
and they think they just popped out
of a genie bottle.
Yeah.
They don't realize that
the road is success,
like we said many times
before, goes to the dump.
No exceptions.
Right? God.
Oh, really?
Like a Castlewood.
But it's still allowed.
You're down and.
Yeah. Wow.
And I swore I was never my daughter
Nicole.
Yes, yes.
Have that.
Yeah.
Right, right.
Yeah. That's what she picked up for me.
Your dad?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know,
trip over?
Sure.
Really awkward.
Yeah.
You're right. Yeah. That's right.
Knowing what to do. Just.
Just manifesting
it onto his body or mindset.
You won't see it.
Yeah.
So you do you have some of
the residual effects, like with that.
But anything else?
Aches and pains from a lot of back pain.
Oh I broke
the whole thoracic area there.
Broke down 102 lumbar fuzed together.
But I still.
Wow. So you are.
Yeah I, I just love the fact is you know,
you're one of those people.
Yeah. But you're one of those people.
If somebody says you can't do it
you're going to do it.
You're laser focused.
I, I love that nobody's going to tell you
you can't do it.
Right.
I admire that life is a mindset.
It it really is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You do you think more about that
as you get older?
About, like, legacy.
What? Leaving things behind.
Reputation.
That's the only thing I worry about.
Doesn't really matter. Yeah.
There'll be plenty for, for,
you know.
Are you happy with the man you become?
Yeah. Very.
So you're very content with yourself.
Yeah. People always ask that question
back.
High school reunion.
This past weekend.
Go back.
Oh, sure. Sure.
When you go back to to.
Because of all those. Yes.
I feel the same way.
I wouldn't want to go back.
I'm happy where I am.
Oh, my kids wouldn't be the same.
Yeah, kids wouldn't be the same.
Same. So.
Yeah. Right.
You know, and I wouldn't
be the same. Right.
You know, I wouldn't be the same.
And you want to exchange it
for someone else's.
Yeah.
When you saw what was in theirs.
Because we all
longer be miserable. Yes.
You know.
Yeah. It's a choice.
It's always seem like it
drags out longer when you're miserable.
But you also have to be intentional.
You have to be intentional about it
each and every day.
You can't let life happen to you.
You've got to go out there
and into the world and by mistake.
No it doesn't.
Miserable? Yes.
You know,
because they don't have the right mindset.
They don't have the emotional maturity
to be able to handle that money.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. So.
Yeah.
Right. Like. Dolly. Yeah. Right.
I mean, I mean, Dolly,
I mean, it was all about kindness.
Yeah.
I love the fact that she and
and I remember, I, I remember
Jeff Bezos gave her $100 million
and said,
you do whatever you want with this money
because he trusted her
to do the right thing.
Because she had integrity.
Yeah.
Integrity set up like your library.
Right. Charity.
Well taken care of. Of course.
Of course. She wanted to.
Property? Yes.
You know not not the cash. Well. Right.
So that's very smart.
Yeah.
We can learn a lot from where she came
from.
Dirt poor, dirt poor.
The dumb blond.
And, you know, use it to her.
And she would say that in interviews. Yes.
She would be very honest about.
I mean I'm in her first hit
song was Dumb Blond.
Ironically enough, that one.
Yeah.
For 1966, the very first hit song
was called Dumb Blond.
She played it right up over 3000 songs.
Yeah.
Incredible, incredible.
And she has one final gift.
She recorded the song back in 2015,
which is not allowed to be heard
into what would have been
her 100th birthday in 2046.
So it's going to come out.
I'm not sure if we're going to be around
at that point.
Maybe it will be. Maybe it will be right?
Yeah, extremely.
I mean, she,
was wanted to do it.
I will always love you.
And Colonel Parker nixed that deal.
Can you imagine if all of us did that,
it would have been a mega-hit
because Colonel Parker wanted
the publishing
rights to it.
Yep. Right.
And she cried all night
because she wanted Elvis to cut the song.
She loved him. Loved him.
I happened to the night before. Yeah.
That she found out the night before that,
she said she was heartbroken
because that was,
anything.
Anything.
Anything you did, you did.
He owned a lot of them.
Yeah. Yeah.
Because most people would give their it
to have somebody like him recorded.
Parker wanted to take his share.
Yeah. Yeah, he sure did.
But, But, hey, thank you for sharing
all of your wonderful talent
with so many people.
You're you're you're just,
you've done so many amazing things,
but you're not done yet.
I'm far from. You're far from done yet. So
we may have
to have you contribute to our book.
