Hey, let's do it.
Let's do it.
Hey, welcome to another edition
with What's Good with John
and Joyce available
on all the streaming platforms.
And we just appreciate you having us on.
It's a safe place to land normally,
but you never know.
With our guest today,
you never know what you're going to hear.
It's a. Rascal.
He is a rascal.
But we try to keep it
predictably unpredictable.
But, Joyce,
I want to let you, open up today.
What's good with John
and Joyce is sponsored
by woodwinds wedding and Special Events
venue in Branford, Connecticut.
And Silvio's award winning Italian sauces,
which you could buy any time online
at silvio's. Sauces.com.
That's silvio's sauces.com.
Billy before before we get into that
because I know
they just play the intro
like for our sponsor woodwinds.
We love woodwinds Silvio's sauce.
But what you don't know
as I've been getting calls
every single day
this past week, they're on backorder
and people are calling me and saying,
can you get this sauce?
You know why? Because of this podcast.
Yes. And also,
they knew Father Ed was coming on, right?
So did.
Did I spill the beans, Joyce?
Yeah, I kind of spilled the beans.
Okay, well,
let's give him a formal introduction,
because he's a very
formal man, All right. Sir.
I'm sorry.
Sorry.
All right, Joyce, go for you.
Could introduce our esteemed guest.
Well, father Ed
Nardone is so beloved in our area.
Probably Tri-State area,
but now worldwide.
Really?
But in the beginning, I think, John,
you and I both knew of him from radio
because you had several
radio shows that you were on.
Father Ed nardone
I'm going to let me just begin
with how I met Father Ed,
because you may not remember,
it was in a wasn't it?
He said it was at a bar, but that.
I don't get it.
Oh, we can't tell.
It's going to be a fun episode, folks. So,
now, this is a very true story.
It's actually in my book, Live
Abundantly Now, which.
You need to get. A copy.
I have short stories in here of how
we can access,
you know, and, and draw into our lives
what we desire
when we put pure love to it.
So I was sitting in, in the parking lot
waiting to go to see my dentist,
and it was just before Easter.
And I'll shorten the story.
I sat there and I thought,
I miss going to Catholic Church.
I grew up Catholic,
switched over to Episcopalian,
switched over to many churches.
But I missed the rituals.
And I actually sat in my car.
I want to talk to a priest.
I really just want to sit down
and have a conversation with the priest.
That was it.
The very next day,
this wonderful woman, Rene Frazier,
called, I remember, and she said,
Joyce,
I have someone sitting here that I think,
you know, you might be interested
in speaking with about his billboards
that he puts up, and he's a priest.
Would you like to speak with him?
His father, Ed Nardone, and I went like,
what?
Mother?
Edna Donnelly you mean like the priest?
Like the legacy?
Are you kidding me? So it's like. Yes.
So you and I set up an appointment
to meet at a diner.
I remember. That.
And when I walked in
and you slid in on the seat,
you said something to me that no client
like for marketing or public
relations has ever said.
You said. So tell me about Joyce Logan.
I was taken
aback because it's like what
usually people say.
So tell me what you could do
for my marketing.
Tell me what you could do for me.
You said you wanted to hear about me.
And we sat for over three hours.
You even heard my confession.
And at the end, you said to me, Joyce,
this is the first day
of the rest of your life.
I mean, I was crying. I laughed that day.
I cried that day.
And when I got back in my car, I thought,
did I just have breakfast with Jesus?
I mean, that's what it felt like.
Because your eyes are so kind.
Your heart is so good.
And I've been so blessed
ever since to call you my friend.
And I love you so much.
As fake nose, false nose.
Ma'am. But. But Joyce am and I did.
I did notice that too.
And, before we went on air, Father Ed
asked me out in the parking lot, you know.
So what do you do?
And what radio stations are you at?
And how do we meet in the past?
And he talked to some of the folks
behind the scenes here
who really do all the work.
You know, Stephanie and Dave.
Dave, you really enjoy your work.
When did you get into podcasting
and asked about Steph, right.
Not a lot of people do that.
You really have
a natural curiosity about people,
and that is so admirable, father.
It is. My mother said, you're nosy.
You're nosy.
No, I think that's what Jesus would do.
I think Jesus would sit down with
the people and say, how are you today?
What's going. On? And then listen.
And listen what you do. You really do
listen.
Well,
can I start this podcast my way? Yes.
Go right ahead.
A little prayer.
May God the Father bless you.
May God the Son heal you.
May God the Holy Spirit strengthen you.
May Joseph, Mary intercede for you.
Are all the saints.
Pray for you
and all those watching podcast at this
at this moment, the name of the father,
son of the Holy Spirit.
Amen. I like to bless my audience.
Thank you.
And what do you got to ask me?
That's intelligent.
Oh, Jesus. Oh,
is this a qualified question?
What's intelligent?
That's a tough one. Yeah.
You know what I'd like?
I'd like to know, and our listeners
to know, though, also is that you have
billboards that have been circulated
throughout Connecticut.
Yeah, I have a.
Who am I going?
And millions of people,
like, drive by these, you know,
we do. Yeah.
Like here I have one rosary brings peace
and bless family sets a billboard so we.
Can turn that around
and just show the show.
The folks who are listening, right.
Jesus, I trust in you. Those are two.
I'll post some of those up.
You know, we'll put them within.
Within their.
Yeah.
And, Yeah,
I put up I've been doing it since
we were 40 years.
I remember,
it was in New Haven
when I was in Guilford and a pastor there
before they threw me up.
And, I started there
and a very effective way of communicating
with people, on the highway,
because I'm humble
and I'm proud of my humility, by the way.
I'm very proud of my humility.
I put, I put my name and telephone number,
so I'll get it.
Call from anyone at any time.
And, I know people see it
because they call me on it.
But like, when you just took a picture
of my mobile billboard on my car.
The car cost me 20, $2,000,
and the, wraparound cost me $2,100.
But, I'm on a highway.
I go 60 miles, everybody sees me.
See the cost on the billboard is $2,000
a month.
The cost of my car was, $21.
I've had it for three days.
I stopped, at a stop sign.
I was very upset.
Lady stopped at the stop sign.
She turned out the window
and she threw a kiss.
I said, was that for me or Jesus?
Jesus, not for you. But,
Then, I stopped for, milkshake and,
and, hamburger and a lady came up
and, knocked on the window.
She says, how many cars do you have?
I have one I put out
$40,000, 40,000 miles recently.
I go all over the place.
So you have to check out where I live.
At seminary, you have to put your name
and tell you when you're going out.
So I looked at the chat chart
out of 30 days, I went out 30
and the next month,
August was just a six state.
Whatever it is, the 30s.
I think I've gone to 11 time.
So it's on a road all the time
and I go 60 miles an hour.
That's why I was late.
Everybody past me,
I go like this, and they took the horn.
So I get people.
It's a I call it a sacrament.
A sacrament is something that, brings
you closer to God.
And that's when my car is a sacrament.
So that's another billboard.
There's a lot of stories.
I'll tell you one day what I had on Jesus.
Jesus, I trust you on 64.
Exit.
No. 84, exit 62.
Invert it.
I had it up there.
I put up cost me $2,000.
Where do I get the money?
I tried to hold up the bank,
but it's too heavy.
I can't hold the money, so I.
I, I held out a guy cause we are says
I have great devotion to Divine Mercy.
Like this.
Picture of Divine Mercy.
I have it somewhere. Yeah.
This one, this picture of divine.
I had this up in a highway, and,
he said, I like it.
I said, I like it too.
And he said, oh,
well, I'd like to have it up for a year.
I said, if you got $38,000,
he writes out a check for $38,000.
That was a couple of years ago.
I've been calling him since
he changed his number, since I've called.
Oh, God, I, I was going to ask him
for his number, father.
I did, I, I can't get him off.
That's the effect.
And, the billboards get people thinking
about God and thinking about themselves.
I mean, most people don't go to
church, but,
everybody goes on the highway and,
I've had it on.
Well,
a couple months ago, I had, at 84, going,
west, 91, 95,
and, in New Britain at 691 and,
Mary so I've had him all over the place.
And if I get money, I'll put him up.
But right now I'm concentrating
on another thing, Divine Mercy.
And I just show you.
Well, I've had these,
I put 75 of these Divine Mercy
on, churches, mostly churches and,
high schools
and a couple, a private buildings.
And it cost me $2,400, each.
So multiply 75 times 20 for $400.
You're talking about $150.
So I went to my uncle, but he was dead.
I couldn't inherit anything.
So I was righteous.
But somehow I pray, and I.
Lord,
if you want it, you got to get it for me.
So, right
now, working on, Norwich diocese,
and I have ten, nine, possibly
ten already signed up.
I just pay $28,000, $800 for a 12
that are in the Norwich diocese.
I have 65, about 65.
And in the Hartford diocese
and and, Bridgeport diocese.
I just call on Bridgeport
before I remember, I had to come to you.
I got some in long Island.
So my my what I'm trying to do is our Lord
says anyone who venerates my picture,
my, picture,
I will, show mercy to that person.
God doesn't want to condemn us to hell.
He doesn't want to judges.
He just wants us to show mercy.
But we have to ask for it.
The reason I got involved with mercy,
I went to Poland,
a couple of years ago to,
to the to crack off.
Where our lady appeared to Saint Faustina,
and he asked that
she promote the veneration
to a Divine Mercy.
And anybody who does venerate my image,
I will bless,
especially at the hour of death.
So I got hooked there.
I went to mass there at TV.
It was at the Basilica of Divine
Mercy and a hundred thousand people there.
What a place for a collection.
But I couldn't take one.
And, there were a hundred thousand people.
I was so touched.
And I said mass that same 40s,
same 40s, 14 us.
Faustina, a chapel.
And I've been on
a, I've been so motivated.
So I, I put up five. Now I got 75.
Now I say, well, I'm a hustle.
What do you do?
I go to 100. Done.
But devotion to divine Mercy is good.
Devotion to God's mercy.
We don't act for mercy.
I go to confession to a priest is deaf
and doesn't understand English.
But I get away with a lot.
I'm deaf in my left ear,
so I get away with murder.
I just had my ears plugged yesterday
so I can hear on my right side.
But seriously, people don't realize
how our God wants to show mercy.
He's not a judgment.
He's not telling us to go to hell.
He wants us to prepare to go to heaven.
Death is, is the final graduation
to heaven where all we were born to die.
And once we die, we finally graduate.
And we all hope to go to heaven. But
that's one of the things
that I'm putting
a lot of emphasis on right now.
And I do radio shows.
If they let me on and,
And they always put them, they always
put them opposite me all the time.
So I've got to compete against this guy
on the radio and.
Yeah.
And I get crushed every time.
Joyce, you're going to the wrong station.
Stop me.
Yeah, I still do radio, Twitter.
And I, if I get the money, I do a 15.
Second spot, on,
or channel three right now.
That's a simple one.
Like, I just
I love you more today than yesterday.
Lord,
I love you more today than yesterday.
I live not over.
Christ lives in me.
So I do a little 15 second one.
And that goes on, at the at the newscast,
at the 12, the for the five and the six.
So I get a lot of coverage.
If anybody watches news anymore,
they're just on the other phones.
And by the phones, they're good.
But this
is, it's a great way of communicating.
But nobody the phones is destroying us
from communicating.
People don't talk to each other.
They text each other.
You go to a restaurant,
what do you do if they're on a phone?
And, I'll tell you a story,
but don't tell anybody, okay?
Okay. Yes. Just between the three of us.
Just between you, me, I, Jimmy Stewart,
I channel three, I, I married,
Kathy, and she was at pop,
and Jimmy Stewart was a,
director at a channel three news.
So I marry them, and,
they're still married
after 40 years, and,
they didn't want to take me out to dinner.
Father. 25th.
I said, you sure?
I said,
do I have to pay? No, not this time.
So we went to Hawthorne, and.
And I walk in there.
The guy's got a phone.
He's on the phone like this,
and his girlfriend is,
sitting to opposite,
and I never saw this guy.
This guy?
Privately guy.
I hope we never see him again.
So I tapped him, so I tapped him on it.
Sure.
I never saw this guy, tapped him,
I showed it, and I said, sure,
if that's your wife or if that's
your girlfriend, you don't love her.
That's the most rude thing
you could do to a woman at a meal.
And Jimmy and Linda were with me.
They wanted to go. I had a. Baby.
I want to crawl under the table.
They were so embarrassed. So. Or eating.
And at the end of the meal,
the waitress comes up to me and says,
father, do you know those two people?
Men, men? Me Irish? No, that's my mother.
And father.
Your daughter too, I said.
Okay, So I'm close my eyes.
What? Can I help you?
Yeah. They want to pay for the meal.
Wow. And he comes over and start crying.
He starts,
he starts coming over.
He said, father, I never realized how rude
I was to my wife.
I'll never do that again.
So I said,
could you pay for our next meal to,
But he needed to hear that.
Yeah.
And you are led by God
to speak at the right time?
Yeah.
Like the
the the look or crosses that I give out.
And by the way,
if anybody wants me, don't call. Me.
But, But but he wants me.
I once went just call (864) 335-2342.
And we'll put that number up.
We will. Yeah.
Just don't put it up to police.
But, I,
and you send these out for free to people.
You know how many? You know
I'm telling the truth.
That how many?
I've given up 223,000. Wow.
I gave one to Dave.
I gave one to Stephanie.
I gave my five every.
I go into a restaurant, and,
I just go from here.
This is my gimmick.
Sir, can I ask you a question?
Yes. What do you want?
Are you nice?
I think so, you said that today?
Yeah. Yeah.
And she took it, right?
That's all I do.
And honest, I never.
Yeah, I'm not exaggerating.
I've been doing this for a long time.
By the way, questioning $0.35
a piece of ice over $70,000.
But, this is over a period of time.
Any restaurant
I go to, any, any place I go,
I go to the post office, I go get a gas,
I stop for some gas at Gulfstream.
I'm in Bloomfield.
And I said, sir,
could I give you a across or.
No, father,
you gave me that two years ago.
I wanted to the post office
and there's a whole line behind me.
And I said,
the groceries I've sent out 600,000.
Send out beautiful rosary to all.
40 countries.
So when I go in there,
they all take their lunch break
because it takes a long time.
I have all these papers.
I could just send, three boxes to Nigeria,
Father Paul.
And, it takes a long time. That's.
So I get a lot of people
waiting for me, and,
you know, they're not too happy with me.
They probably leave the church
because of me.
And and so I, I walk over,
I give each one of a cross.
And I went to the post.
This is true story.
I went to the post office
a couple of days ago,
and I was sending out, groceries to,
South Carolina.
Some guy, one of them, and
I said to the lady, would you like one?
She takes a wallet and she shows me hers
because the 223, you got them all?
Yeah. Yes.
If I go into a restaurant,
I've got a gas station.
If I go into a store,
I got the same thing about out of 220,000,
maybe six people said no one.
They gave it to one. I'm Jewish.
I said you did.
You know my boss is Jewish?
Yeah. What's his name? Jesus Christ.
And the last Jewish lady said,
I'll take it and put it in my pocket.
So, I tried to convert her, but, hey,
she's got a cousin. It's Irish. Jesus.
So anybody who wants this,
just don't call me call.
God. Jewish.
And, And I'll send you as many
as you want to keep my father. You.
I mean,
your approach is so unconventional.
You know, you've been around a long time,
and I think it's great.
I think that you're able to change
with the times
and you're embracing social media.
How do a lot of your peers,
you know, feel about that?
Do you ever get any kind of comments
from, like fellow priests or people?
Eddie you're nuts.
Yeah, I wait,
but I mean,
I just love the fact that you're reaching
so many young people out there to
and they're reaching out to you
and asking for help. Yeah.
We've been talking
local, you know, so, let's let's,
bring in that you have 2.9
million views on TikTok. Yeah.
Did you ever think you would become this
TikTok sensation?
I was disappointed,
I hope to have 10 million, but.
But, it's it's, I.
I just did that, for a fluke
when I was at on it.
Or was I,
I was in Waterbury at a high school
at Holy Cross High School,
and, Fred, my Chester is a friend of mine.
As a lawyer, he keeps me out of jail.
And he.
And he calls, say, come on over.
I wanna make you some of my, son's case.
And he said, father,
you know what a tick tock it is?
Is that a disease?
No, it's not a disease, father.
So it's his 14 year
old girl takes a picture.
He says, this is a tick tock.
So because it is 14 year old kid, now up
to at least 20 million viewers
with all the others.
And, it's not professional.
Like I said to the cook,
if I clean up the table
and save a five minutes,
he'll give me a minute.
And, if I make a mistake,
that's my problem.
But, usually I don't,
you know, I'm used to doing a 62nd and,
I could do a 62nd very easily.
Do. You do that every day. On this?
If I want to pull more, I got one now.
I'm letting up for a while, and,
I stand next to the tabernacle
where Jesus is sitting.
Yeah.
And I said, each one of you
is a tabernacle because God dwells in you.
Then I open a time ago, and I have
the monstrance, which is the large host
in a monstrance comes from, de
most demonstrative to demonstrate,
where we show
Jesus, we consume him in Holy Communion,
and we become his tabernacle,
because God's within us like he's in a
tabernacle, and we're also a monstrance.
We're called to show Jesus
to the world by our actions.
So I said, each one of you is a tabernacle
because you've got God inside of you,
and you a are monsters.
You're called to manage stress management,
manifest God's love and kindness
through your actions.
So I leave that up
to not get as long as I could.
Yeah, that's a good one and.
Needs to saturate.
And to last when I try to hustle money.
But sorry about that.
So I have a picture of all my billboards,
about ten of them.
I said, these cost, $2,000 a,
month.
And then I show a picture of my cross,
and then I show a picture of my Divine
Mercy church here. So,
hey, would you please help me?
And I've been doing this.
I've been, I shouldn't say hustle,
but I've been trying, together
for a quite a while,
so I have $73,000 that have come back.
A GoFundMe meter, gofundme.com/father
in the down, in case you want to do it.
And, And that's what helps you pay
for sending a process and rosary beads.
And I have a foundation called the father
and a dollar good news fund.
And I started that
when I left the radio and television,
I used to
I started a TV mass on nudge channel 20.
And, it's been what I was,
transferred after 15 years.
I actually
well, I got some people like me.
The bishop used to give me $12,000.
I used to spend a half $1 million.
So I straight always hustler, you know,
asking I should, I should you should you.
It was the word hustling, but,
so when I left there, I said, well,
why don't I start my own foundation?
So I've raised about $14 million,
but I, I've given them all.
And right now I have, right now
I have about 390,000
in stocks and bonds,
and I have, 15,000 in cash.
And I need 24,000 from my next project.
So I get an income from,
I don't sell the stocks
and bonds, and, I get an income from that.
And then I, I send out requests
twice a year, and,
So you go to heaven if you give me, $100.
If you give me a thousand,
I'll make a Saint Ross.
So I get $2 in response.
A you help so many people.
There's one time in my life
where you sent me a check.
Yeah, and you helped me through something
to which you probably don't even remember,
because you're always helping everybody.
That's a point
a lot of people from, TikTok.
I get a lot of requests.
Father.
Oh, would you help me with my rent?
Gary guy.
Gift cards stop and shop.
So we're still happening there.
You know, I you do the best you can.
But, yeah, there are a lot
of hurting people out there.
Yeah.
And, not just in Connecticut,
but all over.
Well, I know you visited Haiti.
I know you went to, you know,
you went to,
you go to, but you go to jail.
Do you go visit everyone?
The, I, I used to go to New Haven
and, Simsbury and, Moody.
I remember going to New Haven
here, Whaley Avenue is.
Yeah, there is one. Yeah.
And there was 19 fellows.
19 fellows were there not 20 folks
were there?
And I said,
how are you guys started with marijuana?
19 out of 22.
They graduated to, you know,
crack and rubber stuff and other vaping,
anybody's vaping right now.
If you're vaping, you've been make out
your will.
You're not gonna live very long because
vaping is even worse than smoke the lungs.
Yeah, yeah.
Hits the lungs right away
and the cancer comes in. But,
I remember the guy who killed a priest,
a prisoner, and he killed Father Louis
and Saint Matthews and,
and Matt and Forrest Forestville.
And he says I'm the well.
And when they killed that priest
and I was hearing confessions at that
time, I do, you know, I know who I am.
I know all your white
guys looked the same to me.
I can't tell a difference
between any of you said you told me.
I said, what happened?
And he was off his drugs.
He's, He's schizophrenic.
And he just went crazy. And, so,
70% of them end up going back into jail
and the system does isn't working.
It isn't working.
They go out and the same atmosphere,
they're not trying to do anything but Rob.
So I have my heart goes out to them.
So the work of the priest is to be,
they call me a lot of different names,
you know,
but the only way one on my on my,
tombstone, I have my mother, my father,
my sister, my my, my brother in law,
my nephew, my name.
When they were born, when they were die.
I have mine already. Edmund.
They're not father, but Edmund. Boy, 1933.
That TBA to be another.
I love that. That's awesome.
But I said we have about four minutes
left, I think.
Right. So. Yes.
So I was going to say we should.
I think we should have farther back.
No, no, no. We. All right. We're.
So we will we're going to do a part two
because, much we haven't discussed yet.
And, do you want to
maybe even end with a prayer to the.
May God the Father bless you.
May God the Son heal you.
May God the Holy Spirit strengthen you.
May Joseph and Mary intercede for you
and all his saints.
Pray for you.
Remember, just remember this phrase
your love
and grace is enough for me.
God's love and grace is enough for you.
Amen.
